How to Get Rid of Junk in Littleton, CO

The City of Littleton doesn't collect trash. Residents hire a private hauler, so there's no city bulky item pickup to fall back on. Since April 2026, city residents can book WM's At Your Door collection for paint, chemicals, batteries and electronics. Furniture, mattresses, appliances and remodel debris each have their own route. This guide covers where every common item goes.

Item by item

Where Each Type of Junk Goes in Littleton

Find the thing you are trying to get rid of, then follow the route. Rules change, so each card links to the office or organization that sets them.

Furniture and Other Bulky Items

Littleton has no city trash service, so it has no city bulky item pickup either. Ask your own hauler what its plan covers for large items. Furniture in good shape can go to Arc, which offers free curbside pickup of large furniture, or to the Habitat ReStore.

Mattresses and Box Springs

Habitat and Arc don't accept mattresses. Spring Back Colorado recycles them at 4975 Pontiac St, Commerce City, for $40 a piece, with no appointment needed to drop off. It also runs paid pickups across the metro area. Mattresses must be outside at ground level for pickup.

Refrigerators and Appliances

If you're an Xcel Energy electric customer, Xcel will haul away a working fridge or freezer built in 2021 or earlier and pay you a rebate. Habitat takes only working appliances and charges a $20 handling fee for anything that may contain Freon.

TVs, Computers and Electronics

Colorado bans computers and other electronics from landfills, so they can't go in your trash cart. City residents can add TVs, computers and monitors to an At Your Door pickup. Otherwise, use a recycler from the state's registered list, and expect to pay a fee.

Paint, Chemicals and Batteries

The City partners with WM's At Your Door program. Littleton residents can book a pickup of paint, garden chemicals, motor oil, pool chemicals, batteries, fluorescent tubes and mercury thermostats. Leftover paint in labeled cans can also go to any PaintCare drop-off site.

Leaves and Yard Waste

The 2026 Fall Leaf Collection runs October 26 to November 10 at A1 Organics, 2300 W Radcliff Ave, Englewood. It's $5 per vehicle for leaves only, with proof of residency. Loads with branches, grass or soil are charged $16 per cubic yard.

Concrete, Drywall and Remodel Debris

Remodel debris doesn't belong in a household trash cart. The large regional landfill is the Denver Arapahoe Disposal Site at 3500 S Gun Club Rd, Aurora. Check in with the attendant on arrival. Call 720-876-2650 first to confirm what it accepts and what it charges.

Things Still Worth Using

The Littleton Habitat ReStore at 7890 W Quincy Ave takes furniture, cabinets, working appliances and building materials. Its donation dock is open every day from 10 am to 5:30 pm. Arc runs donation stations at 1400 W Littleton Blvd and 12402 W Ken Caryl Ave.

Medications and Sharps

The state runs a network of medication take-back kiosks at participating law enforcement agencies, pharmacies and clinics. A separate network of kiosks takes needles. Both are on the state's kiosk maps, so find the nearest before you clear out a medicine cabinet.

No city bulky pickup

How to Clear Large Items in Littleton

Littleton property owners choose their own trash company, and the City can't recommend one. Clearing big items means working through a few routes in order, starting with the ones that cost least.

Check Your Address
1

Check You're in City Limits

Many homes with a Littleton mailing address are in unincorporated Jefferson or Douglas County. The City's Address Wizard tells you whether city programs like At Your Door apply to you.

2

Ask Your Hauler First

Your trash plan is a private contract, so what it includes for large items depends on your company. Ask before you pay anyone else.

3

Donate and Recycle What You Can

Arc picks up large furniture curbside. Habitat picks up for a $40 appointment fee, or takes drop-offs free. Mattresses go to Spring Back Colorado, and working fridges to Xcel's recycling program.

4

Haul the Rest

Whatever's left goes to a landfill such as the Denver Arapahoe Disposal Site. Neither Habitat's regular pickup nor Spring Back's will come inside your home, so plan to carry items out.

Littleton's Household Hazardous Waste Collection

From April 1, 2026, the City of Littleton has partnered with WM's At Your Door Special Collection, which picks up hazardous household items from Littleton residents' homes. Routes run throughout the year. Residents short on time, for example during a move or home sale, can call the WM hotline to ask for a drop-off instead.

Oil-based and latex paint, spray paint and wood stains

Used motor oil, oil filters and car batteries

Household cleaners

Pesticides, herbicides and weed killers

Swimming pool chemicals

TVs, computers and monitors

Household batteries

Fluorescent tubes and CFL bulbs

Mercury thermometers and thermostats

At Your Door is a City of Littleton program, so it applies only inside city limits. WM doesn't take appliances, textiles, or batteries from e-bikes, scooters and hoverboards through this service. PaintCare drop-off sites take up to 5 gallons per visit in original labeled cans with secure lids. They don't take aerosols or leaking, unlabeled or empty containers.

Self-hauling

Hauling Junk Yourself From Littleton

Secure the Load

Tarp and strap anything light, like cardboard, insulation, yard waste or bagged trash, before you leave the driveway. A load that sheds on C-470 is a hazard for everyone behind you.

Separate Before You Load

Leaves, branches and mixed trash are priced differently. At the fall leaf collection, a few branches in a leaf load turn a $5 visit into a per-cubic-yard charge. Sort at home, not at the gate.

Call the Facility First

The Denver Arapahoe Disposal Site charges for some hard-to-recycle items, and hours change. Confirm with the facility on the day, especially for concrete, dirt, tires and appliances.

Weigh the Real Cost

A self-haul often takes a borrowed or rented truck, a long drive to Aurora or Commerce City, several trips and a free weekend. For one load of leaves that's fine. For a whole basement it adds up fast.
